Find the right care by symptom
Most people don’t call asking for a root canal; they call because a tooth hurts, a piece broke off, or a denture will not stay put. Here, you’ll find the dental problems we treat most often in Montebello.
If you are in pain right now, skip the reading and call us at (323) 721-7153. We hold time for same-day visits when possible, Monday through Thursday 8 to 5 and Friday 8 to 12, and we see first-time patients for emergencies.
Something hurts or just broke
Pain and sudden damage are the dental problems that should not wait for a routine checkup.
Toothache or infection
A toothache that lingers, throbs at night, or comes with a bad taste usually means the nerve inside the tooth is inflamed or infected. A root canal removes the infection and keeps the tooth.
Broken or chipped tooth
A chip from biting something hard, a cracked molar, or an old filling that fell apart. The fix depends on how deep the damage goes, from bonding to a same-day crown.
Knocked-out tooth or facial swelling
A tooth knocked out in a fall or a game, swelling in the gums or face, or bleeding that will not stop needs to be seen the same day. Infections, broken teeth, and implant concerns go to the front of our schedule.
Jaw pain, clicking, or headaches
Jaw soreness on waking, clicking when you chew, and morning headaches often trace back to clenching or grinding. A custom 3D-printed nightguard and a bite evaluation can take the strain off the joint.
Teeth that are missing or won’t stay put
Gaps and loose appliances change how you chew and, left alone, let the surrounding teeth drift.
Missing teeth
One tooth or several, lost to decay, gum disease, or an extraction years ago. Implants, bridges, and dentures each fill the space differently, and the right one depends on bone, budget, and how many teeth are involved.
Loose or ill-fitting dentures
A denture that slips, rubs, or needs adhesive to stay put is usually resting on a ridge that has changed shape. A new denture, or implants that anchor one, can solve it.
Teeth you’d like to look different
Not every dental problem hurts. Crowding, staining, and worn edges are worth treating too, because they tend to lead to uneven wear, cracks, or gum trouble later.
Crowded or crooked teeth
Overlapping or rotated teeth are harder to clean and wear unevenly. ClearCorrect aligners, planned from a digital scan, straighten adult and teen smiles without brackets.
Stained, chipped, or worn front teeth
Yellowing that brushing will not fix, small chips, or edges that have flattened. Whitening, bonding, and veneers each address a different version of this, and we preview the result digitally first.
Not sure what’s wrong?
You do not need a diagnosis before you call. Describe what you are feeling, and our team, in English or Spanish, will tell you how soon you should be seen. At the visit, Dr. Winslow examines the area, takes imaging only when it helps, and explains what is happening before any treatment is planned.
